TUESDAY – This morning following breakfast we allow you a free day to explore Oban. Oban itself is compact and it's easy to get round on foot. There are plenty of small galleries and independent stores to browse through, as well as the centrally-located local distillery, chocolate shop, and museum. Wander along the seafront to the ruined Dunollie Castle and the sandy beaches beyond - the sunsets here are phenomenal. Alternatively, you may wish to take advantage of the Oban Bay Hotels Spa facilities and treat yourself to a spa day or treatment.
Following a day exploring Oban, dinner is served in the hotel restaurant this evening. Meals - Breakfast, Dinner
WEDNESDAY – This morning following an early breakfast, we come to what must be one of the major highlights of this tour, a full day excursion to travel the Spectacular West Highland Line aboard the world famous ‘Jacobite’ steam service. We travel from Oban to Fort William, where we board the mid-morning steam service to Mallaig. Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain's most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!
We arrive in Mallaig at lunchtime and allow some free time before we board the afternoon return Jacobite service back to Fort William.
Late afternoon, we depart Fort William and return to your hotel in time for dinner. Meals – Breakfast, Dinner
DAY 4 – We enjoy breakfast in the hotel restaurant before embarking on a day exploring some of the main highlights Mull has to offer.
This morning we make a visit to Duart Castle, the ancestral home of Clan McLean on the Isle of Mull, in a shuttle coach.
This afternoon we board our own coach and make a journey to Tobermory, the “capital” of Mull, which is renowned for it’s colourful buildings and picturesque setting. Main Street is a mix of shops, eateries, hotels and guesthouses and has an excellent selection of locally produced arts and crafts.
Whilst here, we also include a tour of the Tobermory Distillery, the home of the Tobermory and Ledaig Single Malts.
Late afternoon, we travel back to your hotel for dinner and your final night on Mull.
